The images do not contain volumetric data.

You cannot register a study containing non-volumetric datasets.

1. Verify that you are using volumetric datasets.

2. Load a study with volumetric datasets into the application.

3. Repeat the steps for Register Studies.

See Using Register Studies.

The registration algorithm is not appropriate for the study.

Apply Manual Registration.

See Using Manual Registration.

The study contains hundreds or thousands of images.

Apply Guided Registration.

Guided Registration factors in the location that you target when selecting the dataset. Make sure that the targeted location is for the same anatomical area in both datasets.

See Using Guided Registration.

The study requires more precise input.

1. Remove the existing registration.

2. Apply the appropriate registration (global, manual, treat as registered, refine).

See Removing Registration.

The patient scan has changed significantly from the prior scan (due to clinical changes).

The images in the study have poor resolution.

Two scans cover a small region of common volume, and have a very small area of overlap.

 The groups are registered already.
