Using Guided Registration

Important: Do not apply Guided Registration to studies containing non-volumetric datasets. The registration algorithm is designed for use on volumetric datasets only. For more information about volume rendered images, see Using Volume Rendering.

Guided Registration provides assisted, precise registration. Guided Registration applies global-level registration, based on local registration points that you manually place on a specific region of each study.

 Use Guided Registration:

1. Display two or more studies containing volumetric datasets.

2. Click Register Studies to view the drop-down menu.

3. Click Register Studies to apply a global-level registration.

4. Scroll to the same anatomical region in each study.

3. Click Guided Registration . The cursor changes to Guided Registration mode.

4. Click once on the same anatomical region of interest (ROI) in each study, such as the same vertebrae in a pair of MR spine studies.

When you click on the anatomical region in each study, you create a registration point. The registration points are factored into the registration algorithm. The points allow the algorithm to more quickly and more accurately match the volumes in each study, and map the relevant pixels in each study.
